And the grammy goes to...

With tonight's Grammy Awards being lead by eight nominations from Mary J. Blige's comeback in 2006 it all but seems that she will still the show with her latest body of work. But take a look at last year, having the most Grammy nomination does not nessicarily mean that it will go that way.

It will be hard to say if this will be the case again this year, but with stiff competition from John Mayer, Justin Timberlake, the Dixie Chicks, and Gnarls Barkley it will be something great to tune in to watch. With my love and appreciation of music I will take a stab at tonight's nominations. So here are my predication's for the 49Th Grammy Awards:

Record of the Year: "Crazy," Gnarls Barkley

Album of the Year: "Continuum," John Mayer

Song of the Year: "Be Without You," Mary J. Blige

New Artist: Carrie Underwood

Rock Album: "Try," John Mayer Trio

Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal: "Is It Any Wonder?" Keane

Pop Vocal Album: "Continuum," John Mayer

R&B Album: "The Breakthrough," Mary J. Blige

Although I watched the Grammy's well listened as I did homework I am not sur who all the winners were, I do know that many people are very upset for the amount of awards that the dixie chicks won, are you?

Good choices for Grammy winners, but it seems that you forgot to take politics into account... as we all know that a band political activism is more important than their music! :)

perhaps give us an update on who actually won, and why you thought they did, but also why they're not necessarily better than your picks...?

(esp for those of us who didn't see the Grammys)

I didn't watch the Grammy's either. But yes, Lee is correct, it's all politics anymore. I never listen to the Dixie Chicks and I never hear them usually affiliated with their music, just their political stance. But hey, if it is good music then that's what it is. Almost all of the bands that I listen to go against my political viewpoints but it is awesome music. I know it is a matter of taste, but when you stop being about music and more about being an activist then you pretty much have set your ground about how people will view you and your music.

I think awards shows are all overrated. The artists truly deserving of awards very rarely win them.

THE DIXIE CHICKS WON?!!!
I wouldn't call their music good anymore. After their first album, they just decided that shinier clothes, more skin, and music about killing people is the way to go. To keep themselves on their feet- they dive into politics by shouting out against the president. They ARE talented girls... who decided that talent is not what's going to win them their precious Grammys... consideration- they have lost a
fan. I am in favor of Wide Open Spaces and You Were Mine. Where are those days?
Of course music doesn't matter in the Grammys, after all it is a musical awards show. Of course, it would make sense if people listened to the instruments and the words to the songs.
